My Family Tree

We had so much fun making "My Family Tree". We recorded it in an old movie theater and Miss Teresa got to sing on the stage all by herself! We brought in a lot of kids to sing in the choir on songs like "Little Light", "Mama" and "You're the One". Our dog, Odie, used to run all around the theater with our boys chasing him!

Colors

Red's for the rosy cheeks you wear

Black for the color of your hair

Blue for your eyes so deep and true

Brown for the skin all over you

Chorus:

Colors, Colors

The world is made of Colors

Colors, Colors

And we're all made of love

Gold's for the curls that frame your face

Pink for your toes that dance with grace

Silver, Grandma and Grandpa's hair

Purple, your favorite shirt to wear

Chorus

Bridge:

So raise your flag of color

Up high and show your pride

'Cause though we all look different

We're just the same inside

Green on the branches of the trees

Yellow the stripes on bumble bees

Orange and tan leaves in the Fall

Rainbow's the best one of them all

Chorus

Little Light

Sometimes the road it gets long and windy

Sometimes I just can't go on

That's when I stop, take a deep breath

And search in my heart for this song

Chorus:

Little Light, Little Light

Little Light inside of me

Little Light, Little Light

You shine brightly

Littl Light, Little Light

You're the very heart of me

Little Light won't you lead my way

Bridge (Traditional)

This Little Light of mine

I'm gonna let it shine

This Little Light of mine

I'm gonna let it shine

This Little Light of mine

I'm gonna let it shine

Let it shine, Let it shine, Let it shine

Sometimes the sky it is blue forever

The sun up above warms my face

That's when I stop, take a deep breath

And give thanks for my peaceful place

Chorus

Down to the Ocean

Come on down to the ocean

Come on down to the shore

Come on down to the ocean with me

Good things are in store

Chorus:

Leave behind your troubles, darling

Leave behind your doubt

Leave behind your expectations

It will all work out

Come on down to the ocean, honey

Let's splash in the waves

Come on down to the ocean with me

We'll explore the caves

Chorus

Come on down to the ocean with me

Hear the water roar

Come on down to the ocean with me

Watch the seagulls soar

You Are The Future

When I see you, I'm so glad you're here

And I our eyes meet, I smile that your near

Now you're smiling back at me, sparkle in your eye

Want to give the best to you, promise I will try

Chorus

You are the future, you are the light

You are the sunrise of every night

When you're laughing, I start laughing, too

And if you want to sing, I'll harmonize with you

As you're dancing all around, alive and fun and free

Jump For Joy

Everybody off your chair

Everybody, everywhere

And as you're rising to your feet

Give yourself a special treat

Chorus:

And Jump, Jump For Joy

Ja, Ja, Ja, Ja, Jump

Jump For Joy

When you're feeling kind of down

That's the time to move around

Moping never solved a thing

So, turn your frown to smiling

Chorus

Bridge:

Get out

Shout out

Look bright

Feel light

Chorus

When you're happy, joyful, glad

Share your mood with someone sad

You may lift them from their seat

With happy arms and happy feet

Chorus

c. 2009 Teresa Gasca-Burk & Gary Burk

You've Got Mail

Dad and I walk hand in hand

To that special box
We bring that tiny key
That only ours unlocks

Chorus:

He quickly shuffles through to see
Is there any there for me?

Three little words I love to say

"You've got mail!"

Mail, mail, mail

Letters, postcards, packages

Are all sent with care

And when they have my name on them

It's okay to tear

Chorus

So when my mailbox fails me

I don't feel despair

I run to my computer screen

Perhaps I'll find some there

Chorus:

Three little words I love to hear

It's like music to my ears

Go on let me hear

"You've got mail!"

Mail, mail, mail

c. 2009 Teresa Gasca-Burk & Gary Burk

Mama

Your voice comes from heaven

Like the stardust falls to earth

I'm wrapped in the melody

I hear a song of birth

Chorus:

Sing to me, Mama

Sing to me, Mama

Please sing to me Mama

Your voice I want to hear

When I need encouragement

I want to know you're near

Chorus

Bridge:

Soft as the morning light

Soft as the breeze

Big as the mountains

Big as the sea

Soft as the morning light

Soft as the breeze

When I walk in wonder

At the flowers, birds and sky

The wind singing through the trees

Reminds me you're close by

Chorus

c. 2009 Teresa Gasca-Burk & Gary Burk

You're the One

We started each day

In a wonderful way

Because you were there

We knew that you cared

Chorus:

To us you were fun

To us you were learning

To us you're the one

To us you are love

You helped us to grow

Taught us things we didn't know

You said we had gifts

Always gave us a lift

Chorus:

Bridge:

And we thank you

We thank, we thank you

For all you shared

Chorus

My Family Tree

Shilu was born in China but now she lives right here

And so does the family she loves so dear

She'll always have her ancestors in another land

It's the same and it's different

But it all spells love

Chorus:

My Family Tree

It's a part of me

My Family Tree

Jose was just a small boy when he left Mexico

His parents took him to a land he didn't know

They promised to take care of him, give him a better life

Jose grew, went to school, made new friends and met his wife

It's the same and it's different

But it all spells love

Chorus

Bridge:

My Family Tree, it's a part of me

But I've got other parts, too, you know

Like what I feel and think, and where I plan to go

It's cool to know my ancestry

But now it's me making history...word!

Daniela sailed here with her family, all the way from Italy

She says she always remembers spotting the Statue of Liberty

Soon her Nona came to live here, New York felt just like home

Family is with you, no matter where you roam

It's the same and it's different

But it all spells love

Chorus

c. 2009 Teresa Gasca-Burk & Gary Burk

Ants in Yer Pants Dance

Papa took Mama and Mama took me

To picnic under the shady oak tree

We laid out our tablecloth and tasty lunch, too

When the ants marched in there was one thing to do

Chorus:

We did the

Ants, Ants in yer pants dance

Ants, ants in yer pants dance

Ants, ants in yer pants dance

Doin' that crazy ants dance

I love the outdoors, I love to eat

Putting them together is a special treat

But I'm not the only one who likes to have fun

Those crazy little ants have got us on the run

Chorus

We thought the coast was clear to eat our pie

Little did we know the ants would want a try

Our friends were back, hungry as can be

But we don't mind 'cause they're good company

Chorus

c. 2009 Teresa Gasca-Burk & Gary Burk

Radio Randy

Everybody knows him

They know him by name

And the truth is without him

This town's not the same

Chorus:

Radio Randy, Radio Randy

Radio Randy, Radio Randy

He stops by the cafe

Just to say "hello"

Then he shares a song or two

Before he has to go

Chorus

Bridge:

See him really movin'

Groovin' down the street

Boombox on his shoulders

Living beat by beat

c. 2009 Teresa Gasca-Burk & Gary Burk

You're Awesome

I've got a secret

It's your secret, too

Lean in closer

I'll tell it to you, I'll tell it to you

Chorus:

You're Awesome, you're awesome

You're awesome, you're awesome

I've got a message

It's written in stone

It's the message

That you've always know, that you've always known

Chorus
